Weekly Cooking Sessions

Homemade Hope leads weekly, hands-on cooking and nutrition classes for children at local schools and transitional living shelters. With guidance from our nurturing facilitators, students prepare healthy dishes from fresh ingredients to share with their families.

We believe student growth—physical, emotional, and mental—begins with the foods they put in their bodies. In our classes, students not only learn about the nutrition benefits of seasonal, local foods, but also gain lifelong culinary skills. At the end of each session, children gather around the table to enjoy the food they've prepared, sharing a "family meal". We like to think that this kind of community building offers food for the soul.

Homemade Hope supports student learning both in and outside of the classroom. We offer community enrichment programming to support our students in becoming the changemakers of their respective communities. We host back-to-school celebrations, provide school supplies, offer tutoring and homework support, and help families pursue academic settings in which students will thrive.
