Sidney and Jason Fagan and Ashley and Nick Howard joined more than 300 other guests to support Homemade Hope at the Home is Where the Heart Is gala. The event was held in the ballroom at River Oaks Country Club, and was chaired by Margot Delaronde Marcell, Heather Mountain, and Dr. Monica Patel.

ONE OF THE city’s favorite charities — Homemade Hope, which helps underprivileged kids develop life skills through various educational programs including cooking classes — once again took of the ballroom of the River Oaks Country for a bright gala supported by a fun crowd of next-gen philanthropists and well-scrubbed swells.

A POLISHED, SEXY crowd of next-gen socialites and philanthropists — cleavage was de rigueur — filled River Oaks Country Club's grand foyer and adjacent sprawling terrace, making great use of a mild fall evening, in support of Homemade Hope's work with underserved children throughout Houston.

Summer Culinary Program Kicks off This Month Highlighting At-Risk Youth

“For so many of the children Homemade Hope serves, food can be a source of uncertainty,” says Homemade Hope’s Executive Director Blair Bentley in a press release. “These children live in food deserts and don’t get adequate nutrition.” That’s why the Houston non-profit decided to partner with The Greater Houston Texas Restaurant Association (GHTRA)—to design an engaging summer field trip program that allows vulnerable children ages 4–18 to gain insight into Houston’s thriving restaurant industry.

During the class, Christine taught everyone how to prepare a refreshing gin cocktail and Thai-style laab salad. We cannot thank Christine enough for sharing her talents and positivity to bring people together and raise funds fo Homemade Hope and Southern Smoke amidst these uncertain, challenging times. Nearly everyone who joined the class cooked with smiles on their faces; a true testament to the unifying power of food. You must check out Christine’s restaurant The Blind Goat. Her food is amazing!

River Oaks Kickoff Party Builds Anticipation for Homemade Hope Gala

Tony Bravo and Richard Werner opened up their stunning River Oaks home to supporters of Homemade Hope for a successful kickoff party. Guests shopped for Kendra Scott baubles in anticipation of Homemade Hope's annual Home Is Where The Heart Is Gala, which honors Marcia and Brig Smart.

Papercity Magazine features Homemade Hope's annual gala by stating that "Homemade Hope Tugs at the Heartstrings in This Starry Houston Gala." The magazine continues to mention that Homemade Hope students provided their own handmade table decorations at each table while Kroger provided the florals. KTRK Channel 13’s Katherine Whale, served as emcee to the evening, chaired by Adam Greer and Margot Delaronde. The eventful night surpassed its expectations in raising funds for the at-risk children in need.

Homemade Hope's Home is Where the Heart is Gala was a complete success, honoring Divya and Chris Brown. The event was featured on the Houston Chronicle and was able to surpass its goal to continue funding the program for homeless and at risk youth.

Thank you to Double Tree Hotel and their staff for making our Christmas celebration so memorable by providing dinner, cookie decorating and Christmas stockings for the Homemade Hope children. Our Christmas celebration was one for the books! All the children created arts & crafts with their families and received gifts from their personalized wishlists.

We had such a special Thanksgiving celebration with our Corder Place families. From the handmade placemats and menu designed by the kids to the family portraits, it was truly a Thanksgiving full of love and family. HH & JW Marriott's Main Kitchen featured on ABC13 News

August 2015

 

Houston's JW Marriott Main Kitchen hosted Homemade Hope for an afternoon of cooking and a behind-the-scenes peek at life in a professional kitchen. Children made pizzas from scratch with fresh ingredients of their choice after a fun demonstration by Executive Chef Erin Smith and three other Main Kitchen chefs.

 

Houston's Public Media highlights Texas Women for the Arts' generous grant award to Homemade Hope
